NLPAC is a Recognised School with the Council for Dance Education and Training and has been awarded the Council’s certificate of good professional practice. Schools awarded CDET’s Recognised School Award demonstrate to students, parents and guardians that they adhere to the standards demanded by the industry; standards designed to protect and safeguard young people whether dancing for leisure or with an eye to a career in the profession.

EMILY BYRON MBE

Emily Byron set up the New London Performing Arts Centre in 1995 in response to the needs of the community to give current and future generations, regardless of background, a high standard or recreational, and vocational, training in the performing arts.  She converted a large disused office building into a thriving and successful children’s performing arts charity.  The centre offers classes to children from all backgrounds, giving quality, affordable training in all areas of the performing arts.  

Emily is a graduate of Middlesex University with an honours degree in English and Educational Psychology and a postgraduate at Central School of Speech and Drama. 

Emily has received the London roll of honour for her contribution to the community and in 2017 received the Queens Honours for her services to children, young people and the community in performing arts.

Susan James BPhil, PGCE, RAD RTS, AISTD

Head of Ballet & DDI/DDE Head Tutor

SUSAN JAMES

Susan teaches ISTD Ballet & Modern, RAD Ballet and is a tutor for the ISTD DDI/DDE teaching qualification. Susan has extensive knowledge and experience teaching in both distance learning tutoring and face-to-face training and was one of the original tutors trained for the RAD Teaching Diploma and Teaching Certificate at the Royal Academy of Dance here in London. Many of Susan’s students have gone onto train at top ballet institutions and companies.

RUTH STOBBS

Ruth trained at the London Studio Centre. Since graduating, she has appeared in various summer seasons and shows across the UK. Ruth has been a tap teacher at NLPAC for many years and has seen her students through ISTD examinations with great success. Ruth has recently updated her teaching qualification to the ISTD DDI dance teaching qualification and is now continuing her studies at DDE level.

PIPPA HOLLIDAY

At the age of 18 Pippa moved to London to train on a full scholarship to the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Since graduating Pippa has performed all over the world as a dancer in both television and theatre.

As a teacher she has over 9 years experience and has worked all over London and Brighton teaching Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary. Pippa has also privately coached children for West End Musicals such as; Oliver, Billy Elliot and Singing in the Rain. Pippa holds the ISTD DDI teaching qualification in Imperial Ballet, Modern Theatre & Tap and is due to comple the DDE level.

IMOGEN BYRON

Imogen trained at NLPAC in all areas of Performing Arts. She has worked professionally on stage, film and television from a young age. She was a regular actress in Holby City for five years and began her West End career in Les Mis.

Amy trained at the Centre for Advance Training at Swindon Dance before gaining a place at Trinity Laban graduating in 2014 with a BA (hons) in Contemporary Dance.  During her time at Laban she studied Ballet and different styles of contemporary dance; Cunningham, Graham and release. Also learning Laban’s theories on choreography and dance, Following Laban, Amy has performed for Hannah Vincent Dance Company at Resolutions 2015 and Footprint dance festival 2015, as well as creating her own work collaborating with a musician.

Becky Clarke ISTD DDE

BECKY CLARKE

Becky began dancing at Harlequin Stage School and competed in many festivals throughout England. She also participated in the Young Dancer of the Year, and won Outstanding Dance at the Modern ISTD Janet Cram Awards. She trained with the Royal Ballet on the Associate program and performed with the Birmingham Royal Ballet in ‘The Nutcracker.’ At 16 Becky continued her professional training at The Arts Educational School, Tring Park. Since graduating, she has worked as a professional dancer and has performed all over the world.  Becky is a fully qualified dance teacher holding the ISTD DDE teaching qualification in Imperial Ballet & Modern Theatre and is soon to complete her studies in Tap at DDE level.

Rebecca trained at Bodyworks Performing Arts, Cambridge. Since graduation she has worked commercially for music videos and advertising as well as modelling. Rebecca has danced with artists such as JLS, Will-i-am, the Kooks, Oli Murs and worked with companies such as ITV, MTV, Channel 4 and QVC. Rebecca’s main passion is to teach and to give back all that she has learnt from working in the business for seven years.

Nick O’Brien

NICK O’BRIEN

Nick trained as an Actor and Director for 3 years under Sam Kogan who was a pupil of  Maria Knebel one of Stanislavski’s pupils at the Moscow Art Theatre. He has a PGCE in Drama from Keele University. Nick teaches Stanislavski based Acting technique, GCSE Drama & LAMDA at NLPAC. Nick has worked for Edexcel for a number of years as an Examiner and Moderator.

Steve Haswell

Steve has been a professional singer and performer for over 15 years and has worked in most genres of entertainment from a lead part in the original cast of Saturday Night Fever at the London Palladium to performing in front of 20,000 people.

He also writes songs for numerous artists. Steve has a passion for teaching and likes to share his personal knowledge and experience with his students.

ORLANDO BYRON

Orlando began his vocal studies as a child here at NLPAC before entering the Chapels Royal as head chorister to the Queen. He went on to study composition, voice and organ at the Junior Royal Academy of Music. He studied for a degree in music at SOAS, where he specialised in Japanese traditional music and became a qualified teacher of world music.

Orlando has a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, a gold medal from the Royal School of Church Music and has achieved ABRSM Grade 8 in a large number of instruments, including voice, music theory, flute, piano, organ and harp.

He continues to work professionally in a wide number of genres as a singer and accompanist.

Laura-Beth Davies

Beth trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, gaining a first class honours degree in musical theatre, where she received the Peter Coxshead Memorial Scholarship and the Elizabeth Evans Trust Scholarship.

Beth made her professional debut in the 25th Anniversary production of Les Miserables, understudying the role of Madame Thenardier.

Other professional credits include Cameron Mackintosh’s Oliver!, understudying the roles of Widow Corney and Charlotte and the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 Arena

Mark trained in London at the Guitar Institute where he gained a degree in contemporary music and guitar. He holds a level 4 certificate in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector. Mark certainly has enough professional experience to advise and inspire all our budding rock stars, he has worked with artists as diverse and prestigious as Boy George and Shania Twain, as well as strutting the boards in the West End.

Annie Seabrook

After graduating with BA (HONS) degree at Colchester music School, Annie continued her musical training at Kingston upon Thames, where she qualified with a post graduate certificate of education. Since then she has toured the UK playing with numerous bands. Annie has been teaching for many years and her students have had great exam success. Annie also accompanies NLPAC students for ABRSM exams.

Dan Farrant

DAN FARRANT

Dan studied at the Royal academy of music where he graduated as the first drummer on the Jazz and Rock course. He was also the first winner at the prestigious Lansdowne award for composition. Dan is currently in the legendary punk band “The Buzzcocks” and over a successful career has also performed and recorded with many artists. He has had 25 years experience in teaching and is very dedicated to encouraging and inspiring North London’s next generation of young Drummers.

 

Lauric Macintosh

LAURIC MACINTOSH

Lauric joined NLPAC as a teacher in Autumn 2017 but was part of NLPAC as a student for many years completing his Drum studies at grade 8. He is now in his final year studying for a degree in Popular Music Performance at BIMM London and intends to progress onto study for a Masters in Jazz performance and teaching.

Lauric performs and has recorded with many musicians including Darren Morgan, Azusena, Lisa Oribasi and Kayla Mix as well as working on his own material.

Josh Stadlen is a renowned drummer, composer and producer from London with over 10 years of performing and recording experience. Josh has a degree in music from City University in London. He is experienced in a  number of genres and teaches at various schools across London.

Alice is an actress and a musician and has been playing the violin since she was 4. She has worked in theatre and film, appearing on the West End and off-Broadway, and was a chorister in the York Minster. Alice has been teaching at NLPAC since 2012 and is represented by Byron’s Management.

Alfred began learning clarinet at the age of 8 then attended University in Florida where he majored in Music Education.  His applied instruments were Clarinet and Saxophone. Alfred began teaching in 1978 back in Kodaikanal International school. He taught Windband, Jazz band, Choir and also directed many musicals. Alfred teaches with Enfield Art Support Service and directs a Windband at the East Barnet Music Centre

Ashley started playing the piano at the early early age of 5 years old and the sax when he was 12. After secondary school, Ashley auditioned and got a place at the world renowned Chethams School Of Music, where is continued to study the sax and piano from the ages of 16- 19. Ashley then went on to study a 3 year degree course in music and jazz at Paul McCartney’s founded, Liverpool Institute of performing.

Currently, Ashley enjoys teaching both classically and in jazz, on the piano, sax clarinet and flute, as well as doing gigs abroad and nationally, playing for clients such as Steven Gerrard and Tailored Events.

RHYS BOWDEN

Rhys studied for a degree in music at Girton College, Cambridge. Subsequently, he joined the Royal Academy of Music on the postgraduate course in vocal studies from which he graduated in 2009 with distinction.

Rhys’s recent roles include the Messenger (Aida) with South Downs Opera, Giuseppe (La Traviata) for Opera Lyrica, Cortigiano (The Hospital of Incurable Madness) for Solomon’s Knot Collective at Aldeburgh Music. He has sung with Opera Rara, Wexford Festival Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera Holland Park, Longborough Opera, British Youth Opera and Stanley Hall Opera.

Jamie Noar

JAMIE NOAR

Jamie works as an actor and musician. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and before that, studied German and Spanish at Bristol University.

Recent theatre credits include: Cinderella (Queens)Made in Dagenham (New Wolsey/Queens), Othello (Stafford Gatehouse), White Christmas (Pitlochry Festival Theatre), Calamity Jane (Watermill and UK Tour), It’s A Wonderful Life (Pitlochry Festival Theatre) and The Perfect City (UK Tour).

Recent screen credits include: Benidorm (ITV/Tiger Aspect), Astoria (Young Vic/Guardian) commercials for Lexus and Proximus

 

Hollie-Anne Bangham

HOLLIE-ANNE BANGHAM MMUS, PGDIP, BMUS Hons, MISM

Hollie’s interest in music began at a very young age, gaining grade 8 ABRSM in both Singing, piano and theory. She continued her studies as a classically trained singer at the Royal Northern College of Music, completing a Masters in Music, Postgraduate Diploma and Bachelors of music with honours all with first class classification. Hollie performs regularly as a soloist performing up and down the country in many prestigious venues as well as internationally, recently touring in Italy, Ukraine and Paris.

Alongside performing Hollie has found a huge passion in teaching with over 10 years experience, from private one to one lessons and coaching’s, leading and conducting choirs including working for the BBC children in need, leading workshops in a variety of primary and secondary schools all over the country and working as lead tutors in many stage schools including Stagecoach and Little Voices. She has 100% pass rate for students taking ABRSM, Trinity, LCM and Lamda exams and a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

 

 

Alec Hewes

ALEC HEWES

Alec is a graduate of Leeds College of Music where he studied for BA degree in Jazz studies. Although primarily a bass player, Alec is also a highly skilled guitarist and piano player. He has been teaching with NLPAC since September 17 and has been teaching privately for 4 years to students of all ages and abilities. Alec is very active in London’s music scene and has performed at some of the most renowned venues in the city such as the O2 Arena, Ronnie Scott’s and the Jazz Cafe.
